Wells Cathedral
In 2016 SSHC were at Wells Cathedral, working on the North Quire Aisle walls and parapets which are situated in one of the most sheltered areas of the Cathedral. Thus, this area of the Cathedral has retained a higher percentage of the earlier fabric.
The North Quire Aisle walls and parapets were in significant need of repair with large areas area covered with heavy sulphate deposits, plant and lichen growth. The works involve stonework repairs and cleaning to the external walls and parapets of the walls of the North Quire Aisle, North Transept East Aisle, and west parapet to the Corpus Christi Chapel. We have begun to carefully unpick the historic fabric of this magnificent building.
