SSHC Ltd has undertaken many brickwork conservation contracts over the years

We have experience in the replacement of inappropriate, spalled and plastic-repaired bricks with hand-made bricks. We also undertake brick repairs, areas of re-building, as well as the removal of cementicious pointing and repointing. We have also use hot mixed mortars in relation with brick conservation.

Lincolns Inn image

In 2018 SSHC  undertook a programme of cleaning & repairs of the stone and brickwork at Lincon's Inn gatehouse and boundary walls at Newman's Row in the City. After samples of bedding and pointing mortars were agreed,  vegetation was carefully removed and cleaning took place. There was some brick and stone replacement along with repointing and  re-decoration of the windows and other ferementa.

Recently SSHC undertook a major programme of repairs to the external facade of Fulham Palace. The use of hot limes was specified by the architect. A suitable area was created for mixing of the hot lime mortar, this was co-ordinated with the main contractor. We took the opportunity to run workshops onsite to train other memebers of the SSHC team in the  mixing and use of hot lime.
